How fast can you get to me? In most of Richmond, Vancouver, Surrey, and Burnaby, our emergency locksmith response time is 15 to 30 minutes because our technicians live across the region, not just near one shop.
1. How Much Does a Locksmith Cost?
The cost of hiring a locksmith depends on several factors, including the type of service, the lock or hardware involved, your location, and whether the service is scheduled or an emergency. Below are general price ranges for some of our most common locksmith services throughout the Lower Mainland.
- Service Call: Starting from $59 during regular business hours. Service call fees may increase depending on travel distance, time of day, weekends, holidays, or emergency response, up to $299.
- Home Lockout: $95–$250, depending on the type of lock, security level, and the complexity of the opening.
- Vehicle Lockout: Most vehicle lockouts range from $50–$150. Luxury vehicles, trunk lockouts, commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, boats, helicopters, and other specialty vehicles may require additional labour or specialized tools and can exceed $250.
- Lock Rekeying: Walk-in rekeying starts at $29 per lock. Mobile rekeying typically starts at $195, which includes the first standard lock rekey and two new keys. Additional locks are generally $29–$90 each, depending on the lock type.
- Lock Replacement: Standard residential lock replacement typically ranges from $95–$250 per lock. High-security locks generally start at $250, while smart locks, keypad locks, and electronic locks usually start at $299, plus the cost of the selected hardware where applicable.
- Key Cutting & Duplication: Standard house keys start at $5. Mailbox keys, restricted keys, high-security keys, specialty keys, and other key types vary depending on the keyway and manufacturer.
- High-Security Lock Installation: Most high-security lock installations range from $250–$600. Some commercial locks, panic hardware, electric locks, restricted key systems, and premium security brands may cost significantly more depending on the product selected and installation requirements.

Every job is unique, and the final cost depends on the hardware required, the condition of the existing door or lock, labour involved, and any additional work necessary to complete the service safely and professionally. Emergency, after-hours, weekend, and holiday services may be subject to additional charges.

2. What if I'm locked out of my house?
We handle home lockouts across Richmond and the Lower Mainland every day. Every technician is licensed and completes our two-month, in-house training under founder Alan Bell, a Red Seal Certified Locksmith so you’re getting someone who knows how to get you back in using non-destructive entry whenever possible, without damaging your lock or door frame.
3.What if my key is stuck or broken in the lock?
We remove broken or jammed keys cleanly this is a routine call for our technicians, not a rare one. We start with a specialized key extractor tool, which works in about half of cases. If that doesn’t clear it, and the door is open, we can remove the cylinder directly, extract the broken key, and rekey it on the spot so the pins align properly with your spare key often the same visit. We get calls for this almost daily from staff at YVR alone, where frequent key use means broken keys are a regular part of the job.
4.What if my key is stuck in the ignition?
This happens more often than people think worn keys, damaged ignition cylinders, or a key cut slightly wrong can all cause it. We can often free a stuck ignition key on-site. If the ignition cylinder itself is damaged, we’ll tell you honestly whether it needs a specialist for ignition repair rather than forcing a fix that won’t hold.
5.Is there a warranty on the work?
Yes every job comes with a 90-day warranty, with the option to extend it. If we genuinely can’t get you back in, you don’t pay for labor. No fix, no charge. For larger commercial or strata projects hinges, gears, automatic door operators, access control, and more — we offer extended warranty terms as part of our ongoing work with property and strata management companies.
